Blood Pressure

Did you know that your posture affects your blood pressure? Studies have concluded that poor neck posture, in particular, can raise your blood pressure. Read the results of the study by clicking here.

We have found that regulating breathing patterns can have a lasting effect on blood pressure. Practicing a simple breathing technique for 15 minutes a day can have a significant effect on lowering high blood pressure. While there are expensive biofeedback devices that you can purchase, you may choose to try a simple at-home method. Breathe in gradually while holding your hand over your tummy (your tummy should rise). As you breathe in, count the seconds to full inhalation. Then breathe out slowly for double the number of seconds. A comfortable pattern may be: breathe in for 4 seconds, breathe out for 8 seconds. Focus in on your breathing and the outward movement of the tummy.
